Cold brew coffee is a refreshing and popular variation of our beloved caffeinated beverage. Not to be confused with iced coffee, which is hot coffee served over ice, cold brew coffee is brewed with room temperature or cold water over a long period. The result is a smooth, rich, and naturally sweet coffee that's perfect for warm weather or anyone seeking a lower-acidity coffee option. Here's a simple guide to making cold brew coffee at home.
In your jar or pitcher, combine coarsely ground coffee and cold water. The recommended ratio is approximately 1 cup of coffee to 4 cups of water, but you can adjust this to suit your taste preference. Make sure all the coffee grounds are immersed in the water.
Cover the jar or pitcher and let the coffee steep for about 12 to 24 hours. This slow brewing process is key to creating cold brew's unique characteristics. The time frame depends on how strong you prefer your cold brew. Generally, the longer the steeping time, the stronger the flavor.
After the steeping process, you'll need to separate the coffee liquid from the grounds. To do this, place a strainer over a large bowl or jug, then line the strainer with your coffee filter or cheesecloth. Slowly pour the coffee mixture through the strainer, allowing the liquid to pass into the bowl and the filter to catch the grounds.
You now have a batch of concentrated cold brew coffee. You can store it in the fridge, where it can last for up to two weeks. When you're ready to serve, dilute the concentrate with cold water or milk. The ratio is typically 1:1, but you can adjust it to your liking. Serve with ice if desired.
Creating cold brew coffee at home is straightforward and requires no fancy equipment. You can customize your cold brew by adjusting the coffee-to-water ratio or adding flavors like vanilla, cinnamon, or almond extracts to the coffee grounds before steeping. Remember, the quality of your beans will significantly affect the taste, so choose fresh, high-quality coffee beans. I ordered a trial size of Brazilian coffee beans, and it arrived the day after roasting along with 60g of Tropic Daydream. Surprisingly, I found that I liked the Tropic Daydream even more! The whole beans were incredibly fresh and fragrant even before grinding. When I tried an espresso with oat milk, it tasted just like a latte from a cafe, but at only half the price and with 100% freshness. Today, experimenting with a coarser grind resulted in a lighter coffee taste. The convenience of the coffee beans subscription is a bonus; I can enjoy different beans every 6 weeks, and refills come directly to my house.

The ground coffee beans smelt so good when they arrived, freshly roasted before delivery for all orders! They make it so easy for everyone to enjoy (even beginners like me without fancy equipment). I got mine in medium grind for pour overs, no extra charge~ The coffee aroma is so nice, with some sweet nutty notes. With its richness and low acidity, it’s perfect for my morning lattes! I bought their 250ml morning cup a few months ago. It is not worth the price. When it arrived, I could tell the quality wasn’t great. Coffee stains cannot be washed off or removed, and it looks terrible just after 1 month of usage. I’m very disappointed with the product.
I like how Yasumi makes it easy for the customer to make a purchase and understand the product with its user friendly interface and clear product description. it also help that they usually give some discount code to offset next subscribed order / purchase!

I do really love the YASUMI Coffee! It brings much much convenient for me, I have an espresso machine at home, so I could make a great cup of coffee everyday. Fresh grind the whole bean, fresh brew the double shot, fresh steam the milk, and then, a fresh cup of specialty coffee. I have order with YASUMI coffee since last year, which Im really happy with the fresh whole bean which deliver to my mail box everytime! and the teams are so cute that everytime will send you an email to inform you that your coffee is going to roast, going to deliver.
